Eish its Loadshedding Time Again…

Its frustrating enough that load shedding often happens at the most inconvenient times and makes the work-day challenging, but when it happens at meal times it can be incredibly inconvenient. What do you cook when you can’t use your electric devices? Your options are to fire up your gas cooker or start a fire!

We have a winner for you … try our pizzas, they’re perfect for load shedding meals. Delish and nutritious, they have been individually pre-cooked so that they can just be heated when mealtime arrives. And, if you forget to defrost them in advance, they only take about 15 minutes to defrost.

How do you bake a pizza when you can’t use your electric oven? you may ask. And the answer is: In a frying pan on a gas hob.

Once defrosted, you can add all your favourite toppings before putting your pizza into a very lightly oiled (or non-stick) frying pan. Add a lid to your frying pan and, violà, you have created your own little mini “pizza oven”. Once the cheese has melted, your pizza is ready – and this should only take 7-8 minutes on a medium heat. Who needs an oven? Or electricity for that matter!

PS: When the oven is working, you can bake your pizza in the oven at 180C for about 10 minutes. And because of the space, you may even be able to bake 2 or 3 at a time.
