What our clients say about our Spices

Here are three things we love hearing our clients say about our spices…..

  1. My spices are clumping together

This is GREAT news because its real confirmation that NOTHING else has been added to the spice. There are no fillers, no preservatives, no anti-coagulants, and all that yucky stuff. While they seem to ‘make the product last longer’, they have adverse affects on our health and are well worth avoiding.

This also means you are getting great value for you money … this is 100% spice that has not ‘watered down’ with things like corn flour, etc which would put more money in the pocket of the seller and cause your foods to thicken when you don’t want them to.

Its completely natural for the spice to form clumps after a while, but are nothing a little shake won’t break up most times. If you really haven’t used the spice in a long time and the clumps are harder, use the back end of a spoon to break them up.

2.  My spices are losing their flavour

This a more GREAT news! Again, its confirmation that the spices are 100% authentic. You see, nothing is meant to last forever. The food industry, however, loves adding all sorts of preservatives to foods to extend their shelf-life (and period of profitability!). Totally free of any preservatives, these spices have a natural shelf life and will slowly lose their oomph as time goes on.

The other thing to remember is that these spices are non-irradiated. Irradiation is a form of food processing that extends the shelf-life of food and prevents it from spoiling. Because these spices have not undergone that process they retain the fullness of their nutritional value, flavour, aroma and strength – and will naturally lose their potency over time.

This too is completely natural and a sign that you are using something totally pure. The best advice we can offer is to buy your spices in smaller quantities unless it is something you use very regularly. Store your spices in a cool, dark place and in an airtight container. Whatever you do, don’t store them in a fridge as the condensation can cause them to spoil quickly, or near a heat source. And, don’t keep them for special occasions! Use them, regularly, and enjoy all the flavour, aroma and nutrients they will add to your food.   Make sure to use your spices within 6-8 months to enjoy all they have to offer.

3.  I need more than a 50g sachet – I just love this spice!

We hear you! Regularly using these spices in your cooking means those sachets empty quickly. You’ll be happy to know that if you’d like to order any of these spices in larger quantities it is possible to do so. They are also available in 200g, 500g, and 1kg sizing. We’ll need a week’s notice to arrange bigger quantities, but will gladly do that.
